Jo & Majima-san from Save the Children

We have　installed a donation box in our shop for supporting people affected by Japan's earthquake and tsunami.
All funds received will be sent to the NGO called Save the Children in Japan.
Save the Children has worked in Japan to launch longer-term recovery for children affected by Japan's March 11 earthquake and tsunami. They have opened the first child-friendly space in Japan, protective environments where children can gather to play and share their experiences under the supervision of trained, caring adults.
We heartily appreciate your kind offer of support.

Tea cups from Singapore

I am very sorry that I couldn't blog for a long time.

Firstly, my deepest condolences for the Japanese people affected by this quake and the tsunami.

I was also in Japan for International Food and Beverage Exhibition called FOODEX Japan to participate as a promoter for AFJones, tea company. I left Japan to Singapore on 10th, just one day before the earthquake hit.
この度の東北太平洋地震および津波で被害を受けた皆様に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。また被災地の一日も早い復興を祈念しております。


Chinese Tea Cups
While I was strolling in China town in Singapore, I found these tiny glass tea cups and fell in love with them.
They are so small that each cups can barely contain 10ml, even smaller than normal Chinese tea cups which can hold no more than 30ml.
In Chinese Tea style, each cup has to be just large enough to hold about two small swallows of tea.

The cup is two-plied and heat resistance that can be held comfortably for drinking.
It is a special pleasure for tea drinkers to think and choose the best suitable tea for the cups when you first use the cups. I decided to enjoy Green Rose this time.
中国の茶器は小さくて本当に可愛い!　いつも新しい茶器を買う時やおろす時に「どんなお茶が合うかしら...」とあれこれ悩むのも楽しいもの。考えた挙句、今回はグリーンローズにしましたが、大正解でした。

こちらのアマンサマーパレスは、私が実際訪れたアマンの中でも、アマンジヲと並ぶ大好きなリゾートでした。
去年、私が別に書いている地元・浜松のコラムでもご紹介したことがあるのですが、美しいリゾーツの風景など...こちらです。

Sri Lanka - Best travel destination

I have been in Sri Lanka and am still surprised at its natural beauty everyday.

I stay five days in Colombo ( capital city) and go back to our family estate in Gampaha( 1.5hour drive from CMB ) on off days. For 2 days, I spend most of the time in the coconuts field with our dogs and cats. I'd eat fresh vegetable curries and deeply indulge myself in the local style.

At the estate, we also grow various vegetables, exotic fruits and spices.
I love hand-plucking them by myself. Passion Fruits, Peppers, Lemongrasses, Cinnamon and also coffee beans ( not tea, though ) and with them, I make fruit jams or dry and grind the spices into powder. Homemade spices always taste the best.

I especially enjoy picking Acerola. Stretching higher to reach the berries shining on tree branches in the morning feels really good.

Today’s berries yield was about 3kg. We had enough for ourselves and the rest we kept for wild birds who frequently visit our garden. I am now making comfiture with berries and entire house smells with its sweet and sour aroma...!

My plan for this Sunday evening is to have Mojito made with this syrup and lemon balms also from the garden...






There still are plenty of berries left on the tree...

現在ユーフォリアムでは、日曜・月曜をお休みとさせて頂いています。
昨日は金曜日で、閉店後にガンパハにある実家に戻ってきました。コロンボから１時間半ほどの道のりですが、わが家は「ジャングルハウス」 と呼ばれているように、豊かな自然に囲まれた場所にあります。
お休み中は、まずは実家の留守を守ってくれている８匹と４匹の労をねぎらい？、彼らのご飯も少々豪華版にして、普段の不義理をお詫びします…
またジャングルでは、留守をしている一週間の間に植物もめざましく成長します。
あちこち歩き回って、野菜や果実を収穫したりするのがとても楽しみ、です。
光と緑の溢れる戸外で体を動かしていると、心も体も思う存分リフレッシュして、更にパワーアップした自分で！コロンボに戻れるような気がします。

つい先ごろ、ＮＹタイムズでスリランカが「今年中に行くべき場所　Ｎｏ．１」に挙げられました。
確かに最近のスリランカの観光客数は飛躍的に伸びているのを、お店をしていても肌で感じています。
内戦が終わった今、治安も急速に改善されて、確かにスリランカはビーチも自然もリゾーツも何もかもあって、しかも価格はお手ごろ。
旅行をするには、とっても狙い目だと思います。
ビーチもいいですが、わが家のような山のなかのジャングルもぜひオススメしたいところです。

美味しいスリランカカレーを食べるのであれば、リゾートよりもやっぱり田舎の家庭料理が一番！だと思う私です。
